Buddha Purnima commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha. Nepali-origin Buddhist communities across Australia observe with temple visits, prayers, processions, butter lamp offerings, and cultural programs. Gai Jatra 2026
Gai Jatra is a Newar festival commemorating those who passed away during the year, traditionally observed with processions, music, and satirical performances. Nepal Festival Perth 2026

Teej Festival 2026 – Hartalika Teej
Teej is a Hindu festival celebrated primarily by women — featuring fasting, dancing, singing, and prayers for the well-being of husbands and family. Perth Nepali community women come together in traditional red sarees. Venue details to be confirmed — follow community groups for updates.
Teej Mahotsav 2026 – Sydney
Sydney's annual Teej Mahotsav returns to Burwood Park, organised by the Nepalese Hindu Society of Australia. Women gather in traditional red sarees to sing Teej songs, fast, and participate in cultural and religious programs. NSW Premier Chris Minns attended in 2025 and confirmed the event will continue. Dashain 2083 – Perth Community Celebration
Dashain is Nepal's biggest festival — 15 days of celebration culminating in Vijaya Dashami (21 October 2026). The Perth community gathers for tika ceremonies, traditional food, cultural programs, and blessings from elders. Ghatasthapana (start of Dashain) falls on 11 October. Vijaya Dashami – Dashain 2083
Vijaya Dashami is the most auspicious day of Dashain — Nepal's biggest festival. Elders apply tika and jamara to family members as a blessing for the year ahead. Nepali communities across Australia gather in community halls for tika ceremonies, traditional food, cultural programs, and celebration. Ghatasthapana (start of Dashain) falls on 11 October 2026. Tihar & Deusi Bhailo Night 2083

Chhath Puja 2026
Four-day Hindu festival honouring the Sun God and Goddess Chhathi Maiya. Devotees observe strict fasting and offer arghya (water offerings) at sunrise and sunset at rivers, lakes or beaches. Main observances: Nahay Khay (13 Nov), Kharna (14 Nov), Sandhya Arghya (15 Nov — sunset offering), Usha Arghya (16 Nov — sunrise offering).
